| I was at 360 pounds (26 stone) and not in great health. I had high blood pressure to the point where I had double and even triple vision. I could barely walk from the parking lot to my cubicle arriving out of breath and sweating. I wanted to take my kids to Disney World, and ride the rides with them. I began controlling my eating in December and started walking around the cubicles at work for 2-3 minutes. By March, I could walk for a half mile in the evenings after work. I joined calorie-count.com so I could track my food and exercise. By May 1 I was under 300 pounds and still losing. I tried to walk a few more steps each evening. By June I was walking 2 miles each night and was trying to eat only 1000 calories per day. When it came time to get on the airplane to Disney World at the end of August, I was 240 pounds (17 stone) and was walking 10 miles per day. I discovered that we Americans make losing weight much more complicated than it needs to be. Just burn more calories per day than you eat. I averaged 3-4 pounds per week for a total of 120 pounds (9 stone). I got comfortable and gained back part of it, but I'm losing again. I already know I can do it, so if I want it bad enough I will reach my goal weight (180 pounds) this time.
Before (360 pounds and slowly killing myself):
After (240 pounds, tanned and fit):

Blow, blow, thou winter wind,
Thou art not so unkind
As man's ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.
Heigh-ho! sing heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then, heigh-ho! the holly!
This life is most jolly.
Freeze, freeze, thou bitter sky,
Thou dost not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As friend remember'd not.
Heigh-ho! sing heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then, heigh-ho! the holly!
This life is most jolly.
See if you can guess who wrote that!
